President of the Republic’ s message on 63rd anniversary of Victory Day
ALGIERS-The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, delivered, on Tuesday, a speech on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of Victory Day (March 19).
“In the name of Allah, the Clement and Merciful,
May the blessings and peace of Allah be upon His Messenger,
My fellow citizens,
We celebrate the Victory Day on March 19, a pivotal date in Algeria’s glorious history that represents the crowning of decades of struggle under the banner of the National Movement and the liberation war waged, for over seven years, by the Algerian people who were convinced of the necessity of the armed resistance.
This resistance was initiated by a generation of patriots who were forged through arduous preparation and awareness-building in preparation cells for D-Day, deciding to proclaim the Declaration of November 1st, which shook the colonial aggressors like an earthquake and announced the launch of the inspiring Liberation Revolution on 1 November 1954.
This Revolution rightfully stands as one of the greatest anti-colonial movements and one of the most authentic struggles of peoples against tyranny and domination in the modern era. It will forever remain a testament to the Algerian people’s commitment to freedom and a symbol of dignity and pride for all peoples.
The Victory Day we celebrate with pride and loyalty is the result of the pure blood that watered our blessed soil and the immeasurable sacrifices made by the Algerian people with courage, faith, and patience to live freely and with dignity on their own land.
Just as the martyrs showed infinite generosity toward Algeria and demonstrated selflessness and love for the homeland, today’s Algerian women and men, the heirs and guardians of this glory, are building today their country with the same spirit, determination, principles, and the same values, without bargaining, driven by the will to build and establish the foundations of a modern State, thanks to an economic policy that attracts investments and generates wealth, infrastructures that promote development, and to young people who achieve continuous success through pioneering experiences in the field of investment.
All this occurs within a strategy based on enhancing and mobilizing national capabilities to serve sustainable development and ongoing social progress, in order to ensure a dignified life for all citizens, at a time when the State continues to mobilize energies to guarantee the Nation’s highest interests and strengthen the internal front with a national consciousness, which is the pride of Algerian women and men, and with a political will turned towards the future, while being attentive to the complexity of the regional situation and its potential repercussions and remaining vigilant to developments in international relations, as befits Algeria’s position, role, and geostrategic importance, and in accordance with the ideals and principles of the glorious Liberation Revolution.
As part of this authentic national direction, we celebrate Victory Day today in a victorious Algeria, with faithfulness to our brave martyrs, loyalty to the Algerian people, and sincerity in the service of our beloved homeland.
On this occasion, I pay tribute to the memory of our valiant martyrs while greeting our sisterly mujahidate and brotherly mujahideen. May Allah grant them long life, and may He accept your fasting and prayers during this blessed month of Ramadan.
